Did you miss the deadlines for SXSW and Midem? All is not lost. There is still time to get in on the action for the 2008 North by Northeast (NXNE) convention and festival, scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada, June 12 - 15. NXNE is not quite as big as SXSW or Midem, but it does have its benefits. A little over 2,000 industry reps attend the convention each year, so there are plenty of chances to get your music heard by labels, managers, press, and more. The fact that this trade show is a little smaller means you have a better chance of getting some face time with the industry people you want to meet. The best part is that NXNE is a big draw for music fans - in fact, around 70,000 turn out to see the bands every year - so even if you don't walk away with your dream record deal, you could walk away with a lot more fans.
