Things are going to be changing around here a bit over the next few weeks...here is just a mere smattering of the things you can look forward to:
  • Forum Redesign - The forum is getting a complete makeover and will be relaunched, with a new design, round about February 26. I've seen the new design and it seems easier to navigate (and I think it's a bit easier on the eyes, as well). Now, about the forum - I have it on good authority that there are loads and loads of you lurking about in there, but no one is really talking to anyone else. Believe me, I get it, I've been a forum lurker myself at certain times in my life, but I think that's a bit of shame. I know for a fact that there are plenty of people reading this site who have info that could be helpful to other readers, and lots of people with lots of interesting things going on. Plus, I KNOW how opinionated music-y people are - we live to argue, right? The forum could be a great resource, and lots of fun, if everyone started sharing a bit. To that end...
  • Guest Forum Moderator - For the month of March, Mr. Ed Pybus, of SL Records will be the guest moderator in the forum. Ed knows lots of stuff about labels, promotion, shows, bands, distribution, and such, and he will delight in sharing that with you. He's also all right for a good chat. Get your questions ready and step to Pybus with them in the forum starting March 1.
  • SXSW Blogging - March means one thing - SXSW, but if you can't make it Austin, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the action. Tim Davidson of Attic Lights will be blogging the band's experience there for you. Attic Lights are managed by Francis Macdonald of Shoeshine Records, who has also shared his advice on this site.
So there you have it. There are more things in the works, like the chance to follow a start up indie label from inception to first release, but I wouldn't want to spoil it all now. For now, mark your calendars for the new forum launch, get your questions ready for Ed and get active in the forum!
