Do You Need PR?

It goes without saying that if you want people to hear your music, you need to have some way to let people it's out there. Although there can be lots of different ways to get this done, depending on your goals, one of the most obvious roads is to hire a PR company. For an indie artist or indie label, that can be a big decision. A music PR company can help a lot in terms of spreading the word, but they don't typically come cheap, and when money is tight, you have to weigh up the likely results versus the investment. Learn more about the considerations involved in hiring a PR company to help figure out if this release is the one for which you should spring for a big media push.

You are right on the mark with your comment about an artist’s music “…you need to have some way to let people know it’s out there.”

You’re also correct that an established PR firm has contacts a person trying to promote their music on their own doesn’t.

Plus an experienced PR person can write credible press releases and get them out efficiently plus a plethora of other things.

Hey, I used the word plethora.

An idea we’ve been thinking about is a subscription based PR service for musicians.

Something affordable, billed monthly, and the artist would get regular PR for themselves or whatever project they’re working on.

I’d certainly love to have your input on whether you think something like this is viable.
