Q&A with Waleed Coyote - Part 2
Tuesday May 20, 2008
As promised, here's part two of the interview with Waleed Coyote. In this second part of the interview, he talks more about the Peace in the Middle East project he's been working on with MC Serch - he discusses the some of the artists involved in the project, his personal connection to the issue and his ideas on changing the world through music. In the ups and downs of trying to get gigs, get press, chase up the manufacturers, find decent distribution, etc, etc, etc, it can be easy to get bogged down in the details and forget the simple power music has to communicate to all different kinds of people and bring them together. So, I hope if you're banging your head against the wall with your most recent music biz let down, you'll find this an inspiring reminder that when you're doing music, you really are doing something that matters.
Of course, don't forget to check out part one of Waleed's interview in which he dispenses a motherload of good advice for aspiring DJs, label bosses and anyone trying to get started in music. And if you happen to be involved in a non-profit music project, drop me a line and let me know. I want to hear about it.
