Sometimes, you simply have to live somewhere with a thriving infrastructure of music related businesses if you're going to get the job you want - this is true if you want to work on the business side of the music industry and you know you don't want to start your own business. But while it's fair to say that it's easier in many ways to get your music career off the ground if there's already a good music scene in place where you live, it's not a requirement.
