Music Careers: Does Where You Live Matter?

If you want to make it in the music industry, does where you live make a difference? It could, but it doesn't have to make as big of a difference as you might imagine. Sometimes, you simply have to live somewhere with a thriving infrastructure of music related businesses if you're going to get the job you want - this is true if you want to work on the business side of the music industry and you know you don't want to start your own business. As a musicians, you may find living in the city that was the birthplace of your musical influences inspiring, and you may find it easier to hook up with like minded musicians. But while it's fair to say that it's easier in many ways to get your music career off the ground if there's already a good music scene in place where you live, it's not a requirement. It comes down to your goals and how dedicated you can be to promoting your music or your business.
