The Cost of Putting on a Show

If you're a promoter, then you know all about striking that delicate balance between the cost of promoting a gig and the income the show generates. Spend too much, you don't even break even. Spend too little, no one turns up for the show, and you still don't break even (and the musicians yell at you). But just what are these things that are going to be separating you from your cash?
