Forum Question of the Week: Keeping an Audience
Monday August 25, 2008
This week's forum question comes from a reader who happens to live in Hollywood, but I think the question he asked applies to any musician who lives somewhere there is a bit of a music scene. When there are lots of acts in town and lots of venues putting on shows every night, how do make your gig stand out - and once you get people through the door, how do you keep them coming back, picking your show every time over all of their options? I love this question because I see this a lot where I live - it's a pretty small town with a pretty big music scene, and there are always seems to be more shows going on than there are people to fill the venues (and most of the time, the musicians competing with each other appeal to the exact same audience - it's like setting up 25 lemonade stands on the same one mile stretch of road). So - do you face a similar situation where you live? How do you handle it? Head to the forum and help your fellow musicians!
