I see lots of paid music promotion "opportunities", and most of them make me SMH, as the kids say. I just saw a a new one the other day from Vlad TV - you pay $100 to have your music featured in one of their videos. You even get a five second credit at the end! Oy vey. The truth is that "promotion" is a vague word, and many people capitalize on that by charging you for so-called promo with very few tangible results. Outside of paying a PR professional to run a campaign for you or buying an ad, there are very few legitimate music promotion opportunities that are worth your money. There are just too many free avenues for music promotion online these days for anyone to paying to have their music featured on a web video or to play a "showcase" gig or so on.
