The power of music to do good is almost boundless. It's so easy to lose track of that power in our day to day work, as we frantically try to figure out how to get this review, that radio play, the next show and on and on and on....
It's nice to get a reminder sometimes, and that is just what Joey's Song is. Joey is Joseph Gomoll, a young music lover who passed away in March of this year at the age of four. Joey had a seizure disorder called Dravet's Syndrome that presented a litany of challenges during his life, but as his father Michael explains in this interview, he faced every single one of those struggles with strength and grace.
Like you and me, Joey loved music. Now the music community is stepping up to help Michael turn his grief into hope for other children suffering with illnesses like Joey. Joey's Song is the name given to a series of albums to be released through the Joseph Gomoll Foundation to raise money for the cause. An amazing list of artists is already on board with more to be announced in the future. In this interview, Michael Gomoll discusses Joey's Song, his son's illness and Joey's love of music. You can find out more about the release on the official website.
