Collaborate Your Way to Music Success

Collaborations are nothing new in the music industry - the good, the bad and the ugly. The thing is, many times, these joinings of the minds are happening in the studio  - which is all well and good, but you know what? If you're an independent musician trying to face off against musicians and labels that are better funded than you are, the A+, number one most powerful tool in your whole arsenal is collaboration with your fellow indie types.

Why? Glad you asked, because there are lots of reasons. First of all, joining forces has a way of making things cheaper for everyone. For instance, a bunch of musicians chipping in on a practice space and drawing up a schedule to use it is way more manageable than throwing down for some digs yourself. Playing shows together, especially gig swap type scenarios, helps everyone build their audiences just a little bit faster. Heck, I've even heard about groups of like minded musicians banding together to buy a van and taking turns driving it on tour. Yes, collaboration can be musical, but in music, there are plenty of other ways to work together that are just as important.

Consider these ways for musicians to find strength in numbers, and if you've got suggestions of your own, do tell. You know - collaborate. See what I did there?
