AIM is the Association for Independent Music, a nonprofit advocacy group that represents the indie music industry in the UK. In Britain, indie music makes up a significant share of the market, and AIM works to bring the indie music biz together so that they have more power than each label/business would have individually.
AIM performs a number of activities for their members:
Perform research and present reports on issues relating to the indie music industry
Conduct informational meetings and seminars
Represent their members at music industry events
Match up people interested in working in the industry with work experience opportunities
Legal advice
Help with managing international distribution and licensing arrangements
Lobbying in both the UK and EU on behalf of the indie industry.

AIM offers resources to non-members, but to access everything they have to offer, you have to join the organization. To be eligible for membership, you have to own a UK based indie label or distribution company. There are different fee levels based on the size of your business and income, and fee waivers are available. To get an application and figure out what kind of membership is suited to you, visit the AIM website.
