While conference sometimes all happen on one site, like a conference centre or large hotel, it's also common for a conference to cover a group of venues. You may use a church hall for debates, local venue for the gigs and local studios for the workshops. Venue hire could be one of your biggest expenses, but you may be able to cut deals – a hotel may allow you to use their conference facilities for free if you encourage delegates to stay at the hotel, especially if it's off season/mid week.
