Multi Album Deal

By Heather McDonald, About.com

Definition:

A multi album record deal is contract deal between an artist and record label that states that the label was release a predetermined number of albums by the artist. Once an artist has signed a multi album contract, they must deliver the set number of albums to that before they can be released from their contract. In some instances, musicians buy their way out multi album deals if the relationship with the label is not working out. Another typical way to get out of a bad multi album deal is to deliver a greatest hits album or live album.
