With your album information uploaded, it is time to decide where exactly you want your music to be distributed. There are a few factors to keep in mind here:
- If you have a licensing deal or label deal in a particular territory that prohibits you from selling there, be sure to exclude any stores that would violate that agreement.
- Consider the pricing. You pay 99 cents for every store you choose to use - a very small price to pay but remember to add it into your budget.
To select the stores you want to use, click the "My Stores" tab in the album checklist. You will be taken to a page that says "Deliver My Music To" with a list of stores underneath. Click on a store to learn more about their service and how their deal works. When you decide to select a store, click the box that says "Deliver Here." You will need to confirm the rights with the retailers.
Of the stores that are offered, only Amazon on Demand offers physical distribution. With this service, you don't need any physical product. Your album is made available through Amazon, and if someone decides to buy a CD copy, Amazon pressed one up - complete with artwork and plastic seal - and ships it to the customer. Amazon withholds more for this service than the other digital distribution options, so be sure to read their info before deciding if it is right for you. However, it is a great tool to have if you want to offer physical product without pressing costs.
Remember that you can jump back to this page and add/remove stores at any time.
