Should I Use a Jewel Case With Demos?

By , About.com Guide

Question: Should I Use a Jewel Case With Demos?
Answer:

When it comes to jewel case versus paper/cardboard/plastic sleeves when sending out demos, the truth is that you're never going to make everyone happy. Just like some people think getting demos and promos digitally is the best thing ever and some people prefer the old fashioned way, there are jewel case people and sleeve people.

Where does that leave you? Gamble on the sleeve. Not only is it less expensive for you, most people who receive demos receive LOTS of them. Jewel cases take up a lot of space and makes those stacks of music look that much harder to plow through. A sleeve makes storage easier. If someone really loves your music, you can give them a snazzy copy with the jewel case and artwork somewhere down the road.
