That Code Looks Hellish – Where Do I Start?

If you viewed the source code of this site as suggested in the last step, you're probably very scared right now. Well, fear not this site is very complex. Your sites code won't look like that - at least not to start with. If you're starting web design now then you're in a good position – most of the major decisions about web standards have been made so, unlike someone starting a few years ago, everything you learn now is likely to remain relevant for the foreseeable future. Web standards are governed by the World Wide Web Consortium and you should ensure your web pages stick to their standards to help make them compatible and lasting. Frustratingly, many web design packages, and even some browsers fail to comply with these standards. Stick to them from the start and you'll avoid problems down the line.
