Definition:
Tech spec is short for "technical specification" and is a list of equipment and technical requirements. Music tech specs are used in two ways:
- A band or a band's agent will often provide a tech spec to a promoter or a venue so that everyone knows in advance that all of the proper equipment will be there on the night of the show and that the band will be able to use all of the equipment they are bringing.
- A tech spec may also be provided by a venue to the bands they are hosting so the band knows what they have in-house and what the band will need to provide for themselves.
