How Do You Promote Your Music?

We're heavily focused on social networking and touring, because those are the areas we're comfortable in. We tried a radio campaign, but that felt like it was a little bit of a waste of money and effort.

Online, we try to be active everywhere as much as possible. Touring-wise, we're planning a US tour right now because we think that's the right place for our music right now, although it's far from our country, Sweden.

Do You Release Your Own Music? Do You Want a Deal?

We've released through Tunecore and done all the work ourselves. It's alright, although it's hard on your wallet. Especially touring. I guess the positives is you have your freedom to go whichever direction you want with your music, and when good things come your way you know it's your own work that pays off.

On a label you're always controlled to a certain extent. On the other hand, that may be a reasonable price for all the work they put up releasing your albums, promoting and paying for you.

Tips and Tricks

  • In the beginning the online world seems overwhelmingly huge and the amount of bands out there seems infinite.
  • This is true, social networking is complicated and all over the place, but you can't expect to know it all from start. Read up on online promotion, all communities have their own systems and they are all quite simple. Once you figure it out you will instead start seeing the possibilities with social networking.
  • There will always be millions of bands out there, but there are even more music fans. If you make good music, there will always be a crowd. You just gotta find them.
