We are a small, critically acclaimed independent label that has been running for nearly a decade. We are known for being an underground house label although we have recently crossed genres by developing two bands called: Relation and Eat More Cake, as well as signing diverse records from the Diogenes Club.
Relation's album 'Fear Of Night' keeps an electronic 'air' although it can be classified as an indie 'synthy' pop genre. Eat More Cake really hit the alternative mark by giving an overall indie/rock/hip hop/electronic feel to their music. Their album 'CLimb The Ladder, Live The Dream' will be released later this year but streaming is available through their websites. The Diogenes Club is a complete mixture of electronica and indie, with plenty of groove as well as feel-good or emotional and thoughtful records. This band has been extremely well received by the blogosphere for its truly talented productions. Currently being produced is a band called ‘Avatars’: much bigger electronic sounds and heavily drafted with uplifting and driving moods.
In regards to our long term and on-going love for club music: we are mainly labeled as deep house, although we have had proper house releases such as 'Blood' by Francois Dubois (Funk D'Void) - our biggest record to date and the upcoming releases and remix by Brabe which gather the soul of late house music. We also have tech-house releases like those of Sam Ball, Yorch and Onionz. 2010 is a great year for Electronic albums with Steve Mill and Stephen Lopkin (both artists we develop) who are releasing their first albums with us. Whereas Steve Mill keeps a proper club sound with genuine deep house and a progressive spirit, Stephen Lopkin is more experimental and quirky, although both are fantastic to listen to whether in a club or in your home.
This last sentence pretty much sums up our philosophy on music: we strive to sign records that evoke instant emotion regardless of your environment. We love music with meaning and vision. Our strong reputation is also underlined by the fact that we have never cared for current trends or what third parties might think, we strongly believe that our music will speak for itself and hopefully inspire people with the same genuine passion we have lived with for nearly ten years.
Advice
- We accept and listen to all demos, but please make sure you know and like us. If your sound and philosophy sounds similar to ours, please do not hesitate to drop us an email.
- We highly, highly, appreciate demos sent with a nicely presented email and not just an email that has clearly been sent left, right and center with no ‘Hello’, ‘Please’ or ‘Thank you’. It is always encouraging when the artists write a little about themselves and their productions as it makes it so much more personal and interesting.
What Is Your Demo Policy?
Please send your demos to demos@urbantorque.com: it sends them straight to Leigh Morgan’s inbox (our A&R/Label Manager).
