Share Your ThoughtsSigning a 360 Music Deal
- I would look at the opportunity a 360 offers. As a new musician who is trying to get funding, work and recognition it might well be the only way forward for me. In that case I would if I am allowed to produce my genre of music and there is a reasonable get-out clause. What I cannot compromise is my genre of music (because it comes from the heart), which, fortunately, people really love to listen and dance to. I don't expect funder and promoters to role over. Its business and its tough. So Its up to me to get a lawyer and business adviser. Yes I would take 360.

Not very likely to do a 360
- There is a time and a place for just about everything, so I'd never say never. However a good label deal these days is more of a business partnership arrangement. We prefer well defined areas of responsibility. The artist knows what they need to do and we know what we need to do. We offer artists we sign a split profit deal. We both work hard to create and to sell good recordings, we both take a risk, and we both share in the profits. This seems quite fair to everyone. That said, I can see where a band or artist could find themselves in a position where a 360 would be the only way to go. Remember though that investment usually rules, so whoever has the largest investment is going to take the largest share of profit and usually the largest share of control as well. There is nothing inherently wrong with a 360 deal, it is just not always the best way to go, however for some it is the only way they can get there...

Not a chance
- 360 deal is a sucker's bet. There's no way that you're going to come out of it cleanly. The label is going to be into you until you stop making them money, and they're gonna hang on until you're dry. It's the last gasp of a dying creature and will guarantee a quick rise to the top and a short stay for anyone who takes it. ... and there's a downside too.
